RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA AMENDING THE COMPENSATION
SCHEDULE AND CLASSIFICATION PLAN TO REFLECT
THE ADDITION OF A POLICE SERVICES OFFICER
SUPERVISOR AND AUTHORIZING THE
RECLASSIFICATION OF TWO POLICE SERVICES
OFFICERS TO POLICE SERVICES OFFICER SUPERVISORS
WHEREAS, the Chula Vista City Jail is currently comprised of one Lieutenant, 12 Police
Services Officers and one Senior Office Specialist; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department is requesting to reclassify two Police Services
Officers to Police Services Officer Supervisors to create supervisory roles in the jail operations;
and
WHEREAS, the ability to delegate jail supervisory duties by the Jail Commander is key
to operational efficiency and will reduce span-of-control to aprofessional-standard level; and
WHEREAS, the proposed bi-weekly salary of a Police Services Officer Supervisor is
15% more than a Police Services Officer, which will be $2,41130 at E Step; and
WHEREAS, the Police Services Officer Supervisor classification will belong to the
CVEA bargaining group.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby amend the compensation schedule and classification plan to reflect the
addition of a Police Services Officer Supervisor and authorize the reclassification of two Police
Services Officers to Police Services Officer Supervisors.
