Naples Ct Chula Vista, CA 91910 CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL: Present: Bobby Price, Gene Pellerin, Stephen Sprenkle, Stephen Millikin, Keith Bloom Terry Jensen Excused: John Acosta Absent: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the March meeting were approved. 2. ACTION ITEMS ^ Veteran's Home Update: Annual golf fundraiser raised over $5,000. The turn out was better than expected. Bob White was successful in getting the City of Chula Vista and City of Coronado to donate money. ^ Gene Pellerin stated the resolution and minutes were sent to the City Clerk's office. ^ Bobby Price stated 17 employees are to be cut in living assistance for veterans. Veterans community is encouraged to put in writing the impact this will cause. A formal documentation (memo) of cuts needed. ^ Gene Pellerin stated the Rose Garden Ceremony is set for Saturday, May 30th at 10:OOam. Six names and bios were provided. ^ Gene Pellerin distributed Summary of Activity report and asked commissioners to review and add information if needed. Keith Blum will forward awrite-up to Gene. ^ New Chairman election: Gene Pellerin was selected as the new Chairman. Terry Jensen was selected as Vice-Chair. ^ Terry Jensen discussed the Veteran's Job Fair, which will be held in June. 3. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: None Comments/ Adjourn 4. ADJOURNMENT The Veterans Advisory Commission will adjourn to the next regular meeting scheduled on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Chula Vista Veteran's Home 700 E. Naples Court Chula Vista, CA 91910.
