RESOURCE CONSERVATION COMMISSION

1. Climate Action Plan Implementation Progress Report & 2013-2014 Local Government
Partnership Proposal
None
The Minutes of April 9, 2012 were approved.
None
Environmental Resource Manager Brendan Reed highlighted the major
accomplishments over the last six months of each of the eighteen measures and went
over the background & proposed components of the program.
Action: Commissioner Romo made a motion that the Resource Conservation
Commission recommend that City Council accept the Climate Action Plan
progress report and authorize staff to submit the 2013-2014 Local Government
Partnership proposal. Commissioner Vargas seconded the motion. The motion
passed unanimously.

INFORMATION ITEMS
1. Development Project Review Process for Environmental Compliance
Associate Planner Kim Vanderbie explained the mitigation monitoring process for
development projects submitted to the City for approval.
2. Update on Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Collection events
Recycling Specialist Manuel Medrano gave an update on the City's collection events and
the kinds if items collected at the events.
3. Update on the RFP process for the Household Hazardous Waste Facility
Environmental Services Program Manager Lynn France discussed details of the RFP
process and stated that the item would be going to Council on Consent.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
• June 11th RCC meeting -The Commission agreed to cancel the June RCC meeting due
to lack of staff support for that meeting.
• Environmental Resource Manager Brendan Reed mentioned the upcoming Bike to Work
event.
COMMISSIONER COMMENTS
• Commissioner Romo commented on a Ride to Work Day for motorcycles and scooters,
and stated that he would like to see the City promote the event.
• RCC's Shade Tree planting project -Environmental Resource Manager Reed stated
that a location had been determined and that they had the trees.
• Update on the Bayfront Wildlife Advisory Group, Commissioners Coleman and Davis -
No comment was made on this item.
CHAIR COMMENTS
Led by suggestion of the Chair, the group agreed for future agendas, to move the Future
Items section to the end of the agenda after Chair Comments. They also agreed that
discussed items would be left on the agenda in strikeout mode for two meetings before
being deleted from the list.
ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 5:55 p.m. to a regular meeting on Monday,
July 9, 2012, at 4:00 pm in Executive Conference Room 103, Building 300, 276 Fourth Avenue,
Chula Vista, CA 91910.
