C. Staff Comments
Ms. Bacon advised that there have been several recent positive drug/alcohol test cases among employee,
which may result in termination. The employees will have the option to appeal the termination, so several
hearings may be scheduled in the coming months. The department will likely not be recommending any last-
chance agreements for employees in safety-sensitive positions.
Ms. Bacon reported that the City is facing a structural budget gap for fiscal year 2012, which could result in
significant pay cuts, layoffs, and, or employees paying a significant portion of their PERS contribution. The City
continues to look at all revenue options and grant opportunities to offset the gap.
D. Public Comments -None
