RESOLUTION OF THE CI'FY COtJNCII. OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA, CALIFORNIA, CAI.I.ING AND GIVING
NOTICE OF THE ttOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY,
MARCH 7, 2000, FOR THE ELECTION OF TWO MEMBERS OF
THE CITY COUNCIL, AND SUBMITTING CERTAIN CHARTER
AMENDMENT(S) TO THE PEOPLE OF SAID CITY, AS
REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE CHULA VISTA
CHARTER AND THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RELATING TO THE CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Chula Vista Charter, a General Municipal Election
shall be held on March 7, 2000, for the purpose of electing two Members of the City Council to fill
Seats 3 and 4 for the filll term of flint years, commencing in December, 2000. and for the purpose,
at such elections, of submitting Charter amendments to the People; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF TItE CITY OF CHULA VISTA DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETEP, MINE, AND ORDER, as ti~llows:
SECTION I. Pursuant to tile requiremelns of the Clmla Vista Charter and the laws of the State of
California, there shall be and there is hereby called and ordered held in tile City of Chula Vista,
California. on Toesday, March 7. 2000, a regular municipal election of the qualified electors of said
City for the purpose of electing two Members of the City Cotu~cil to fill Seats 3 and 4 for the full term
of four years, commencing December, 2000, and ti3r subnlitting certain Charter amendment(s) to the
People,
SECTION 2. The ballots to be used at said election shall be. both as to li3rm and matter contained
therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat
SECTION 3. The City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure
and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipnlent and
paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawlifily conduct said election.
SECTION 4. The polls of said election shall be open at seven o'clock am. of the day of said election
and shall remain open continuously fi-onl said time until eight o'clock p.m. of the same day when said
polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14401 of the Elections Code of the State of
California,
SECTION 5. In all particulars not recited in this Restfiution, said electjim shall be held and
conducted as provided by law R~r holding municipal elections in said City
SECTION 6 Notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and tile City Clerk
is hereby authorized, instrncted and directed to give such liu'filer or additional notice of said election
in time, form and manner as reqnired bv law
