Provide a voice for citizen interests. • Encourage citizen participation in the democratic process. Promote the numerous activities available at the City's libraries. ® Participate in the process of the City's libraries' growth, development and well-being. Encourage library users to share their library stories to promote positive image. . 4~ I This Board of Library Trustees has made every effort to be ' positive and educated advocates for the City's libraries. Special Training • Trustees participated in a CALTAC (CA Association of Library Trustees and Commissioners) workshop training on July 16, 2011.. • The Library Board Effectiveness workshop allowed participants to learn about responsibilities, such as strategic • f planning, finance, advocacy, community relations and more. i .~ ~___.~_. ~s ~ __._~. __.___._._.__.____ ____,Y.__~__ __ ___.__ _,__ ~__._._____~_ r _~ -- - Trustees have taken- every opportunity to participate and ` promote the library. . National Conference • A Trustee attended the workshops for library trustees at the American Library Association Conference held in Anaheim June 2012. I~ L. ~ _._..,,_.. ~. _ f Looking forward Trustees have expressed concern over issues that affect the efficiency of the libraries' functions and their future direction. _ . _. _ -- More than Volunteers Trustees are more than a group of volunteers meeting once a month. • They are the dedicated, supporting body of involved, concerned citizens devoting their time, effort and energy to help maintain the City's libraries at their optimum level of achievement and service to its citizens. -~- Moving Forward • In order to have an efficient, dedicated Board of trustees, it is the greatest concern of the Trustees that their roles i be recognized and employed by the Council when matters concerning the libraries are being considered and before any final decisions are taken.
