HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2012-176RESOLUTION NO.2012-176 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING $224,123 FROM THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY AND APPROPRIATING $169,492 TO THE POLICE GRANT FUND FOR THE SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Police Department has been awarded $224,123 grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program; and WHEREAS, the goal of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program is to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in crashes involving alcohol, speed, red light running, and other primary collision factors; and WHEREAS, the throughout the one-year grant period of October ], 20]2, to September 30, 2012, DUI saturation patrols, warrant service operations, court stings, stakeouts, distracted driving operations and other traffic enforcement operations will be conducted on an overtime basis; and WHEREAS, the grant funds from the California Office of Traffic Safety will completely offset the total costs of this program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept $224,123 from the California Office of Traffic Safety and appropriate $163,892 to the personnel services category and $5,600 to the supplies and services category of the Police Grant Fund for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.
