BACKGROUND:
Mrs. Celia Seligson has made formal application for
permission to construct two excess width driveways at
1436 Hilltop Drive in conjunction with construction of
approximately 40 apartment units upon the site. The
proposed alley -type driveway will require a 32.5 ft.
curb opening and the proposed standard driveway approach
will require. a 28.5 ft. curb opening. Maximum width per
Ordinance is 25 ft.
The proposed number of apartment units will generate
approximately 400 trips per day. Such volume of traffic
justifies extra width driveways so as to facilitate
both rapid and safe ingress and egress to the property.
Approval by Council action is necessary per Ordinance 1205.

Supporting information: (Use other side if necessary)
Mrs. Celia A. Seligson, developer of a 40 -unit apartment complex at
1436 Hilltop Drive, by her letter dated January 4, 1972, has
requested authorization to construct an alley -type driveway approach
on Hilltop Drive, and a standard driveway approach on Tobias Drive,
both in excess of the width limitations imposed by Section 27.408 of
Ordinance 1205. The proposed alley -type driveway will require a
32.5 ft. curb opening and the proposed standard driveway approach
will require a 28.5 ft. curb opening. Maximum width per Ordinance
is 25 ft.
The applicant has paid the required fee for special permit appli-
cation. Authorization to construct such driveways must be made via
resolution by the City Council.
The proposed number of apartment units will generate approximately
400 trips per day. Such volume of traffic justifies extra width
driveways so as to facilitate both rapid and safe ingress and egress
to the property.
The Director of Public Works recommends approval of two excess width
driveways as hereinabove described.
Please prepare a resolution for Council action approving the reques
excess width driveways and authorizing the issuance of permit for
their construction.
