The proposed alley -type driveway will require a 32.5 ft. curb opening and the proposed standard driveway approach will require. a 28.5 ft. curb opening. Maximum width per Ordinance is 25 ft. The proposed number of apartment units will generate approximately 400 trips per day. Such volume of traffic justifies extra width driveways so as to facilitate both rapid and safe ingress and egress to the property. Approval by Council action is necessary per Ordinance 1205. Cole, Director of Public Works TO: City Attorney I SUBJECT: Request for Excess Width Driveways at 1436 Hilltop Drive Your office is requested to prepare the necessary [X] Resolution; [ ] Ordinance; [ ] Agreement; to be presented to the City Council for action on February 1 , 19 =, on the subject matter. Supporting information: (Use other side if necessary) Mrs. Celia A. Seligson, developer of a 40 -unit apartment complex at 1436 Hilltop Drive, by her letter dated January 4, 1972, has requested authorization to construct an alley -type driveway approach on Hilltop Drive, and a standard driveway approach on Tobias Drive, both in excess of the width limitations imposed by Section 27.408 of Ordinance 1205. The proposed alley -type driveway will require a 32.5 ft. curb opening and the proposed standard driveway approach will require a 28.5 ft. curb opening. Maximum width per Ordinance is 25 ft. The applicant has paid the required fee for special permit appli- cation. Authorization to construct such driveways must be made via resolution by the City Council. The proposed number of apartment units will generate approximately 400 trips per day. Such volume of traffic justifies extra width driveways so as to facilitate both rapid and safe ingress and egress to the property. The Director of Public Works recommends approval of two excess width driveways as hereinabove described.
