RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING $252,282 FROM THE 2001
LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT, AMENDING
THE FISCAL YEAR 2001/2002 POLICE BUDGET,
APPROPRIATING $242,282 FOR POLICE TECHNOLOGY
AND EQUIPMENT AND $10,000 TO SUPPORT THE SOUTH
BAY DRUG COURT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF
POLICE TO UTILIZE (REPROGRAM) SAVINGS RESULTING
FROM THE COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT PROCESS FOR
ADDITIONAL UNSPECIFIED OFFICER SAFETY
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2001/2002 Federal Budget appropriates $242,282 to the City
of Chula Vista Police Department for the Local Law Enfomement Block Grant Funds; and
WHEREAS, these funds were appropriated based on a three year average part one violent
crimes for purposes stipulated by the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program;
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista held a public hearing on September 24, 2001, to
notice use of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds in the amount of $242,282 for
police technology and equipment and $10,000 to support the South Bay Drug Court; and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2001/2002 police budget will be amended to add $242,282
for equipment and $10,000 for the South Bay Drug Court; and
WHEREAS, the $25,282 (10%) local cash match requirement has been meet from the
State Technology Grant 2001; and
WHEREAS, if savings result from the competitive procurement process, the Chief of
Police will be authorized to utilize savings for additional unspecified safety equipment and
supplies; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula
Vista does hereby accept $252,282 from Local Law Enforcement from the Bureau of Justice
Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program.
