HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1967-4315RESOLUTION NO. 4315 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA FINDING COMPETITIVE BIDDING TO BE IMPRACTICAL AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FIRE TRUCK BODY TO LA MESA SHEET METAL WORKS The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council finds that in accordance with the recommendation of the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Chula Vista, the most advantageous means for acquiring a needed new fire truck is to contract for the construction of the body of the fire truck as a custom item in accordance with the plans and specifica- tions provided by the Fire Department, and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has recommended that the La Mesa Sheet Metal Works, because of previous experience in the performance of said custom construction of fire truck bodies, and more particularly because of said experience on behalf of the City of Chula Vista, be awarded the contract for the construction of the required fire truck body, and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that. the La Mesa Sheet Metal Works has demonstrated by such previous experience those special skills required to most economically and skillfully construct the required custom fire truck body and that it is desirable and economical to in- sure the proper construction of said fire truck body that the work be performed by said manufacturer, and WHEREAS, the La Mesa Sheet Metal Works has offered to perform the required custom construction°work for the sum of $5,063.85, plus sales tax in the amount of $202.55, for a total price of $5,266.40, and to perform said work under the supervision of the Fire Department of the City of Chula Vista in complete cooperation with said department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of,Chula Vista, based upon the foregoing reasons and facts, does hereby find that competitive bidding for the construction of the required fire truck body is impractical and undesirable. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Purchasing Agent be, and he is hereby directed to complete this transaction and conclude such necessary contracts with the La Mesa Sheet Metal Works for the construction and acquisition of said fire truck body. -1- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said necessary contract with La Mesa Sheet Metal Works be, and the same is hereby approved, and the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby authorized and directed to execute same for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista. DATED° „ and that the same has not been amended City Clerk CC-652 None None CUSTOM FIRE TRUCK BODY THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 24th day of January , 1967, by and between the CITY OF CHULA VISTA, a muni- cipal corporation, and LA MESA SHEET METAL WORKS, 8135 Center Street, La Mesa, California; W I T N E 5 S E T H WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista desires to have constructed a fire truck body, to be mounted on a chassis supplied by the City of Chula Vista, and to be built in accordance with the plans attached here- to and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full herein, and to the satisfaction of the Fire Chief of the City of Chula Vista. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS MUTUALLY AGREED by and between the parties hereto, for good and valuable consideration in the sum of FIVE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-SIX AND 40/100 DOLLARS ($5,266.40) as follows: A. La Mesa Sheet Metal Works hereby agrees to furnish all necessary material and labor for the following eight items, except as portions of said items as indicated may be supplied by the City of Chula Vista: 1. Fire Truck Body. Body complete, mounted on a chassis supplied by the City of Chula Vista. Body to be built as per attached plans and to the satisfaction of the Fire Chief. 2. Pump & Plumbing. Pump to be supplied by the City of Chula Vista and installed with all necessary valves, fittings and labor for such installation. 3. Electrical. La Mesa Sheet Metal Works shall furnish and in- stall the following: Cab mounted revolving red light; cab mounted steady red light; cab, inside controlled, spotlights; stop-turn indicator and tail lights rear spotlights; rear amber lights; clearance lights; and, lights and switches in all compartments. 4. Water Tank. One (1) 400 gallon 14 ga.type 304 18-8 #2 finish stainless steel tank, to be mounted inside of body so as to be removable. 5. Hose Reel. One (1) Hannay Electric 200' hose reel with chrome plated hose rollers on each side. 6. Ladder. One (1) 16' aluminum extension ladder to be mounted in compartment on top of body, Duo-Safety 700 series or equal. 7. Painting. Prime coat only. 8. Brackets. Brackets for pike pole and attic ladders. B. La Mesa Sheet Metal Works agrees to complete all work set forth in paragraph A within ninety (90) days of the execution of this agreement. C. City agrees to pay the sum DOLLARS ($5,063.85), plus Cali HUNDRED TWO AND 55/100 DOLLARS THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-SIX receipt of the fire truck body the satisfactory nature of the of FIVE THOUSAND SIXTY-THREE AND 85/100 Eornia sales tax in the amount of TWO ($202.55), for a total sum of FIVE AND 40/100 DOLLARS ($5,266.40) upon and acceptance by the Fire Chief as to work.
