HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2001-280 RESOLUTION NO.2001-280 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA SUPPORTING THE CURRENT LIMITATIONS ON TRUCK SIZE AND WEIGHT AS STATED 1N THE TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY (TEA-21) WHEREAS, the Chula Vista City Council has been asked by the Coalition Against Bigger Tracks (CABT) to renew the City's support for maintaining the Federal ban on triple trailer trucks; and WHEREAS, the City passed a similar resolution in June of 1997, during the Congressional deliberations on the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA), now known as the Transportation Efficiency Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21); and WHEREAS, Congress will take up the transportation funding appropriated through TEA-21 in 2003; and WHEREAS, citizen groups, concerned that the triple trailer issue will come to the forefront during those negotiations, have asked cities around the nation to reiterate their desire to maintain the ban on triple trailers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby support the current limitations on track size and weight as stated in the Transportation Efficiency Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21).
