HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1967-4470Kr,JULUl1U1V NU. 44/V RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA SUPPORTING SENATE BILL N0. 1083 RELATING TO THE ADVERTISING OF WAGE SCALES The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 1083, as introduced by Senator McCarthy, would amend Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California to afford various public agencies the right to refer to a copy of the prevail- ing rate of per diem wages by reference rather than cause it to be published in its entirety in a local newspaper; and WHEREAS, it is a matter of common knowledge that very few people actually review such wage scales as presently published; and WHEREAS, under the present system of requiring full publication, needless expenditures of taxpayers' monies are incurred, which could be avoided by the adoption of this proposed amendment, in that interested parties would, by virtue of the incorporation provision as set forth therein, be able to review said wage scales if they so desired, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista deems it to be to the best interests of all municipal organizations and public agencies, as well as to the best interests of all taxpayers throughout the State of California if said Senate Bill No. 1083 were adopted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that said Council hereby supports the proposed amendment to Sec- tion 1773 of the Labor Code as set forth in Senate Bill No. 1083, and urges the legislative body of this State to adopt said proposed amendment. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista be, and he is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable Senator Petris, Chairman of the Senate Labor Committee, and to each member of the Legislative Delegation of the County of San Diego. DATED City Clerk r RESOLUTION N0. 839 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SENATE BILL N0. 1083 RELATIVE TO THE ADVERTISING OF WAGE SCALES WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of El Capon that Senate Bill No. 1083, as introduced by Senator McCarthy, if enacted would amend Section 1773 of the Labor Code to afford various public agencies the right to refer to a copy of the prevailing rate of per diem wages by reference rather than cause it to be published in its entirety in a local newspaper; and WHEREAS, it is a matter of common knowledge that very few people actually review such wage scales as presently published; and WHEREAS, under the present system of requiring full publication, it is the opinion of this body that needless expenditures of taxpayer's moneys are incurred, which said expenditures could be avoided by the adoption of said Senate Bill, in that interested pa rties would, by virtue of the incorporation provision as set forth in the proposed amendment, be able to review said wage scales if they so desired; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of El Capon deems it to be to the best interests of all municipal organizations and public agencies, as well as all of the taxpayers throughout the State of California., if said proposed amendment were adopted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EL CAJON AS FOLLOWS 1. That for the reasons above stated the City Council of the City of E1 Capon hereby supports the proposed amendment to Section 1773 of the Labor Code as set forth in Senate Bill No. 1083, and urges the legislative body of this State to adopt said proposed amendment. 2. That the City Clerk is instructed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the local legislators, as well as to Senator Petris, Chairman of the Senate Labor Committee.
