REQUESTED: Approval of resolution
Copy of Resolution X❑ Ordinance ❑ Agreement ❑ Plat ❑ attached
BACKGROUND:
On October 12, 1971, City Council authorized the Director of
Public Works to advertise for bids for the installation of
traffic signals at the intersection of East "L" Street,
Telegraph Canyon Road and Nacion Avenue. On November 16, 1971,
three bids were received as follows:
Perry Electric Company $14,700
Arrow Electric Company $16,348
California Electric Company $19,653
The Engineer's estimate was $18,500. Funds to finance this
work will come from Gas Tax 2107 funds under Project 150 -2.
These bids are for the installation of the traffic signals only
and do not include the cost of the controller, which is $13,503.
The total cost of Project 150 -2 therefore is $28,203.
The Council previously awarded the contract for Project 150 -1,
signal installation at 5th and "L ", in the amount of $10,300.
This leaves a balance in Project #150, shown on the Summary of
Gas Tax Funds Budgeted 1971 -72, of $19,700. Therefore, it
will be necessary to transfer funds from the unexpended 2107
Gas Tax fund account to Project 150.
See EXHIBITS ❑X No. 1
FINANCIAL
STATEMENT: Transfer $8503 + $197 (contingencies) or a total of $8700
from the unexpended 2107 Gas Tax fund to Project 150.

Supporting information: (Use other side if necessary)
On November 16, 1971 at 11:00 A.M. the Public Works Director
received three bids for the installation of traffic signals at
East "L" Street, Telegraph Canyon Road and Nacion Avenue. The
bids were as follows:
Perry Electric Company $14,700
Arrow Electric Company $16,348
California Electric Company $19,653
The Engineer's estimate was $18,500.
Funds to finance this work will come from Gas Tax 2107 funds under
Project 150 -2.
The total amount of Gas Tax funds allocated for Projects 150 -1
(5th and "L" signal) and 150 -2 (East "L" Street, Telegraph Canyon
Road and Nacion Avenue) is $30,000. Expenditures for 150 -1 are
$101300, leaving a remainder of $19,700 for Project 150 -2. However
the controller for this latter location will cost $13,503 and with
the construction being $14,700, it will be necessary to transfer
funds.
It is recommended that the contract be awarded to the low bidder,
Perry Electric Company, for $14,700 and that $8700 be transferred
from the unexpended 2107 Gas Tax funds to Project 150 -2. This
amount will provide for the deficit of $8503 plus $197 for
contingencies.
