No. CC -17 October 27, 1971 To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: John Thomson, City Manager Subject: Ambulance Service Ordinance and Agreement Changes At its meeting of 10- 13 -71, Council directed the City Manager and the City Attorney to investigate subject items in response to the problems cited by James F. Gleason in behalf of the County Emergency Medical Care Committee regarding the above subject. The City Manager met with Mr. Gleason and Mr. Steve Ballard, of Bay Cities Ambulance Service, on 10- 26 -71. It was agreed to mutual satis- faction that ambulances transporting medical specialty teams riding in those ambulances, with a medical doctor as part of such teams, would have clear access into the City without police interference. This change in procedure is to be contingent upon the said ambulances immediately contacting our Police Department to advise of situations. A business license will be required of such ambulance firms. The City Attorney is requested, by copy of this memo, to provide the necessary documents (ordinance, resolution and agreement).
