ITEM TITLE: Resolution - City's intention to change amortization
schedule for billboards

BACKGROUND:
In response to a City Council request made on 9 -7 -71, a study
on the possibility of reducing the amortization period for
billboards located within the City limits was conducted by
the Planning Department staff.
Based on the findings presented at the Planning Commission
meeting of 10 -4 -71, the Commission recommends that the City
Council adopt an amendment to the City Code to change the
amortization schedule for billboards valued at $2,500 or
more to a maximum of five years. All other billboards
would be abated sooner.
This resolution calls for a public hearing regarding this
matter on November 16, 1971.

Subject: Amortization schedule for billboards
In response to your request on September 7, 1971, a study
on the possibility of reducing the amortization period
for billboards located within the city limits was conducted
by the Planning Department Staff.
Based on the findings presented at the Planning Commission
meeting of October 4, 1971, the Commission recommends that
your honorable body adopt an amendment to the City Code to
change the amortization schedule for signs valued at $2500
or more to a maximum of five years. All other billboards
would be abated sooner.
