Cole, Director of Public Works TO: City Attorney SUBJECT: Change in Street Name, Southwestern College Estates Units 5 and 6, Acacia Avenue to Rutgers Avenue Your office is requested to prepare the necessary [X] Resolution; [ ] Ordinance; [ ] Agreement; to be presented to the City Council for action on September 14 , 19 71, on the subject matter. Supporting information: (Use other side if necessary) The City Council requested a study from staff for the proposed alignment of Acacia Avenue. Our study has determined that the County portion of Acacia Avenue should terminate at the extension of "H" Street several hundred feet westerly of existing Acacia Avenue within the City limits. A detailed report of our proposal for the alignment of Acacia Avenue will be submitted at a later date. Because the County portion of Acacia Avenue will not align with the City portion, it is recommended that the name of Acacia Avenue within the City be changed to Rutgers Avenue. Since the houses in Units 5 and 6 of Southwestern College Estates are under construction it is proposed to effect the name change at this time. On August 24, 1971, the Planning Commission considered this request and recommends approval of the name change from Acacia Avenue to Rutgers Avenue. Please prepare a resolution for City Council action changing the name of Acacia Avenue in Southwestern College Estates Unit 5, Map No. 6818 and Southwestern College Estates Unit 6, Map No. 6845 to Rutgers Avenue. The resolution is to instruct the City Clerk to record the document in the office of the County Recorder. Attachments: Planning Commission Letter Plats Originating Dept.
