HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1968-4841RESOLUTION NO. 4841 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA FINDING COMPETITIVE BIDDING TO BE IMPRACTICAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A ONE-TON LOW BED DUMP TRUCY. FOR USE AT THE CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of. Chula Vista has heretofore authorized the purchase of certain major golf course maintenance equipment items by the adoption of the budget and the inclusion of said eauipraent in the D-1 account of the approved budget for the Parks and Recreation Department, and tVI~EP,EAS, the present 3/4 ton dump truck being used at the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course has now become totally inoperable, and has, in fact, been so for several months, constituting a safety razard to those that have had to work with the truck, and WHEREAS, the condition of the present dump truck has been determined to be so bad as to make it worthless for anything except scrap, and 6~'HEREAS, it is vital and necessary that the maintenance crews at the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course be equipped with a functioning dump truck in order to carry out necessary maintenance work at the golf course, and 6VHEREAS, the low bidder on the San Diego County bid in October of 1967 is willing to sell to the City of_ Chula Vista a one- ton low bed dump truck for the price of $3,064.08, which amount includes a new legally required safety group and the sales tax, and WHEREAS, said bid is deemed to be a reasonable and exceedingly low cost for the acquisition of such a dump truck, and WHEREAS, the Director of_ that because of the immediate need higr.ly favorable price offered by bid, that the City Council concur the one-ton low bed dump truck, as Item No. 39, be purchased f.or the be waived. Parks and Recreation has recommended for such a dump truck, and the the low bidder on the 1967 County ir. these findings and recommend that specified in County Bid Nc. 12759, price of $3,064.08, and that bidding NOW, THEREFOI:~E, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council o.f the City of Chula Vista, based upon the foregoing facts and reasons, does hereby find that competitive bidding for the acquisition of said dump truck is impractical and undesirable. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Parks and Recreation is hereby authorized to expend the sum of_ $3,064.08 from the D-1 account of the Parks and Recreation Department budget for the acquisition of said one-ton low bed dump truck as specified in County aid No. 12759, Item 39.
