HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1968-4993RESOLUTION NO. 4993 RESOLUTION OF THE CI'1~Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA, ACCEPTING INFORMAL BID AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF DRAINAGE FACILITIES ON WOOD- LAW?~T AVENUE, FL04dER STREET, AND RIVERLAWN AVENUE, AND AUTHORIZING T~iE P~iAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID CONTRACT The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has heretofore, by Resolution No. 4953, adopted on the 5th day Gf November, 1968, authorized the Director of Public Works to obtain, by informal bidding, an appropriate bid or bids for the installation of_ drainage facilities at the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and Flower Street and on Riverlawn Avenue, based upon the findings of fact that competitive bidding for the installation of said drainage facilities was impractical, and that the work is of_ urgent necessity for the preservation of life, health or property, and WHEREAS, one bid was received for said installation of drainage facilities by the Director of Public Works, submitted by G. L. Searcy of El Cajon, California, in the amount of $6,729.33, which bid is -~;ithin 10% of the engineer's estimate for said project, and WHEREAS, because of the urgent necessity of completing this project, the Director of Public Works leas recommended that this bid be accepted and the contract for the installation of said storm drain facilities on Woodlawn Avenue, Flower Street and Riverlawn Avenue be awarded to G. L. Searcy, who has assured the City that he is a licensed contractor in the State o.f California and care produce an acceptable performance bond. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of_ the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept said bid, and does hereby award the contract for said installation of storm drain facilities to G. L. Searcy, of El Cajon, California, to be completed in accordance with the specifications as approved by the Director of Public Works of the City of Chula Vista. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $1,000.00, being the difference between the bid amount of $6,729.33 and the amount presently available in the 1-55, Drainage Culverts, account, be, and the same is hereby appropriated from the unappropriated surplus of the Reserve for Capital Outlay of the General Fund for the purposes set forth hereinabove. BE IT FURT~IER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute said con- tract for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
