The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, bids were received and opened. at 3:OG p.m. on thz
30th day of October, 19E8 in the office of the. Pu.Ychasing Agent of
the City of Chula Vista for five items consistincj of 17 automotive
vehicles for the use of various City departments, ar_d
P7HEREAS, sai:~. bids are ~as set forth in Exhibits "A" and "B"
attachec~ hereto and made a part hereof by refe-rence; ar?d
G7HER.EAS, the Purchasing Agent has recor~~rlended that the con-
tracts for each iterl sho~m. cn Exhibi.t "A" att~.ched hereto, other tr.ar~
the bids for tee nine (9) police special autoi~:~tive vehicles, be awarded
in each instance to the lowest responsible bidder-s, ~aho '_za°~n assured
the City what they a.re' licensed venders in the State of Califorr.i a and
can produce acceptable performance bonds, and
;VHEREAS, s;~bsequent to the opening of said bids it has been
determined that t~ao other governmental agenciF~s, i.e., the County of San
Diego and the City of San Diego, received bids for police special auto-
mo~_ive vehi~~les meeting specifications substantially identical to these
of the City cf Chula Vista, a.nd that said bids wer_~ stbstantially lower
than bids received by the City of Chula Vista and certain other govern-
mental agencies, i.e., the City of La Mesa, and
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Ager.t, having revie~~~ed these several
transactions, recor~LL~nends t.zat said bids for the nine ;'.9) police specials
be acknowledged and rejected, and that the City o_f Chula Vista enter
into an agreement with the lot>> bideer of the City of San Diego, i.e.,
Carter. City Ford, to accruire said vehicles at a cost of $2,156.00 plus
sales tax., .>>hich amount is $356 , 75 less than the lo.aest bid roceive~u by
the City of Chula Vista.
NOP7, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that tine Ci ty Council of the
City of-Chula Vista does hereby accent said bids, as shown or: Exhibits
"A" and "B" attached hereto and made a part hereof, exclusive of the
bids for the nine (1) police specials, a.-~d does hereby ac•~ard t'r:e contracts
in each i nstar~c~ to the los•fest responsi'le bidders, as follows

as set forth in IteM TMl cf Exhibits "A" and "B" attached hereto, and
directs the Purchasing Agent to negotiate a contract with Center. City
Ford for t11e purchase of said nine (9) vehicles r~ursuant to thA specifica-
tions of the City of San Diego, at the bid pri,~e of $2,156.00.
