RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA FINDING COMPETITIVE BIDDING TO BE IMPRACTICAL
FOR THE REPAIR AND REMODELING OF THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S
LOCKER ROOMS AND DRESSING ROOMS IN MEMORIAL PARK
GYMNASIUM, AND WAIVING FORMAL BIDDING REQUIREMENTS
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore budgeted the sum of
$15,000.00 for Project #8 of the Parks and Recreation projects for the
year 1968-69, which consists of gymnasium and locker room repairs for
both the men's and women's dressing rooms and locker rooms, and
WHEREAS, in regard to the repairs and remodeling of the locker
and dressing room facilities, immediate steps should be taken to effect
said repairs and remodeling because of the seriously deteriorated con-
dition of the plumbing and certain structural defects which prevent the
full and proper utilization of~these facilities, and
WHEREAS, the high school physical education programs using
the gymnasium will commence on February 10, 1969, which will allow a
very limited time for the accomplishment of said repairs and remodeling
of the locker room facilities, and
WHEREAS, it also is noted that although general plans and
estimates have been prepared for the work to be accomplished, it is not
possible until certain structures have been removed during the course of
remodeling to be absolutely certain as to the full extent and nature of
the work which must be done, and
WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of the Director of Parks and
Recreation, Director of Public Works, and the Director of the Building
Inspection Department, City Council finds that said repairs and remodel-
ing of the locker room facilities at the gymnasium is deemed to be an
immediate necessity for the reasons set forth herein
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Chula Vista, based upon the foregoing facts and reasons, does
hereby find that competitive bidding for the accomplishment of said
work is impractical and undesirable.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Building Inspection
Department be, and he is hereby directed to secure informal bids for this
work in an estimated amount of $9,600.00 and present such bids to the
City Council at the earliest possible time for approval by the City
Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Director of Building Inspec-
tion Department be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to act as
general contractor for the accomplishment of said necessary repairs and
remodeling as stated hereinabove.
