RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
MODIFYING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 27.19 OF THE CHULA
VISTA CITY CODE WITH RESPECT TO THE MAXIMUM DRIVEWAY
OPENING WIDTH AND WAIVING SAID REQUIREMENTS WITH RESPECT
TO THE PARKVIEW SCHOOL LOCATED IN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve
as follows:
WHEREAS, Section 27.20 of the Chula Vista City Code authorizes
the City Council to modify the limitations contained in Section 27.19
of said Code, and
WHEREAS, the Parkview School has heretofore requested a waiver
of the requirements of Section 27.19 of the Chula Vista City Code to
allow them to construct a driveway with a 60 foot opening in order to
more easily provide ingress and egress for school buses, which width
is twenty-five feet in excess of the allowable driveway opening width
under the provisions of Section 27.19 of the City Code, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has considered said re-
quest, and recommends that the City Council waive the requirements
of said section, based upon the fact that the 60 foot driveway opening
will not adversely affect traffic or create a pedestrian hazard, and
that strict application of the provisions of Section 27.19 would
create particular difficulties in serving more easily bus access at
the Parkview School.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Chula Vista that the maximum width of driveway opening set forth
in Section 27.19 of the City Code be, and the same is hereby waived
insofar as the Parkview School in said City is concerned, and that
the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby authorize
the construction of a 60 foot driveway with curb returns instead of
standard depressions at the Parkview School, and that the driveway
opening width maximum limit for said Parkview School is hereby in-
creased by twenty-five lineal feet.
