RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TriE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
REQUESTING INITIATION OF NEW LEGISLATION TO REVISE OR
AMEND EXISTING INEQUITIES IN THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA PERTAINING TO ASSESSING AND TAXING OF REAL PROPERTY
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, on November 5, 1968, the votes of. the State of.
California expressed their opposition to Proposition 9 - Watson
Amendment on real property tax relief; and
WHEREAS, by so doing have indicated that our legislators,
the representatives of the people, ar_e the ones to initiate
legislation that will revise our archaic real property tax laws
and procedures of assessing in the State of California; and
WHEREAS, for the past number of years the real property
taxpayer has been promised by his state representative relief in
this field of taxation; and
WHEREAS, Proposition 1-A was only pacifying legislation.
which would counteract Proposition 9, and in fact Proposition 1-A
would not have been on the ballot if it were not for the initiative
amendment, Proposition 9;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Chula Vista that the legislative delegation of_ the County
of San Diego be urged to initiate new legislation that would revise
or amend as necessary the existing inectuities in the laws of_ the
State of California pertaining to assessing and taxing of real
property; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Chula Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to for-
ward certified copies of this resolution to all members of the
legislative delegation of the County of San Diego, and to the League
of California Cities.

be forwarded to the City's representatives in the Calif ornia
Legislature and to all cities in tY:e State of California.

1969.
