The water systems, sewers and roads that we build today are the foundation stones for future economic vitality.", and WHEREAS, everyone is concerned with the future growth and de- velopment of this community, and WHEREAS, such a concern must be reflected in a demand for the best qualified men to occupy the critical positions in the Public Works Department with the highest caliber of experience and training to provide for the most efficient use of the taxpayers' dollar, and t9HEREAS, retaining and attracting qualified and dedicated personnel to staff public works departments is materially influenced by the people's attitude and understanding of the importance of the work performed by such employees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, DANIEL A. McCORQUODALE, Mayor of the City of Chula Vista, do hereby proclaim the week of May 12 through May 18, 1968, as "NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK" and call upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the prob- lems involved in providing public works facilities and services, and to recognize the important role in our safety, health and well-being that is played by the public works officials in our community.
