RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CHULA VISTA DECLARING MONDAY, JULY 21,
1969, AS A HOLIDAY FOR THE EMPLOYEES OF
THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND URGING ALL
CITIZENS TO OBSERVE THE HISTORICAL FIRST
D?OON LANDING
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the astronauts of Apollo 11 will land on the
moon on Monday, July 21, 1969, and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States, Richard M.
Nixon, has requested as many government agencies as possible
to allow public employees to be on holiday on t?onday, July 21,
1969,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Chula Vista that Monday, July 21, 1969, shall be a
holiday for the employees of the City of Chula Vista and that
all citizens of the City of Chula Vista are urged to watch the
astronauts, Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin, as they
become the first men to land on the moon.

OF CHULA VISTA DECLARING MONDP_Y, JULY 21,
1969, AS A HOLIDAY IN THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA
WHEREAS, the first manned flight took place in the
South Bay area when Zack Pdontgomery flew for a distance of
600 feet, and
WHEREAS, Chula Vista has long had an interest in the
moon in that the oldest community affair in San Diego County
is held in Chula Vista and has been named the Fiesta de la
Luna, and
WHEREAS, Chula Vista's largest industry and major
employer provided much of the radar tracking facility at loca-
tions such as Goldstone, California, and
WHEREAS, many citizens of the world will be able to
observe the historical event of man's first la~dina on the moon
on television signals transmitted via microwave antenna pro-
duced by Rohr Corporation, and
WHEREAS, having the opportunity to observe this his-
torical event as it takes place will serve to develop a feeling
of national pride in the citizens of Chula Vista, and
WHEREAS, the President of the United States, Richard M,
Nixon, has requested as many government agencies as possible to
allow public employees to not report for work on Monday, July 21,
1969,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, DANIEL A. McCORQUODALE, Mayor of
the City of Chula Vista, do hereby proclaim Monday, July 21, 1969,
as a holiday for City employees and urge that they and all citizens
of Chula Vista watch the astronauts, Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin
E. Aldrin, as they become the first men to land on the moon.
