HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2000-463 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-463 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA DIRECTING STAFF TO BRING FORWARD A TWO-YEAR BUDGET FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION FOR THE TWO-YEAR PERIOD BEGINNiNG IN FISCAL YEAR 2001/2002 WHEREAS, biennial budgeting is the process of developing annual operating revenue and expenditure estimates for two years at a time; and WHEREAS, multi-year budgeting is increasingly popular among cities and counties throughout the country as it improves fiscal planning, retains the fiscal control inherent in one- year budgeting and reduces redundant workload; and WHEREAS, staff is recommending that the City's operating budget for Fiscal Year 2001/2002 be a biennial budget with single year appropriations as mandated by the City Charter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby direct staff to bring forward a two-year budget with single year appropriations for Council consideration for the two-year period beginning July 1, 2001.
