HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1967-4410A RESOLUTION NO. 4410A(a) RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING SECTION 8 OF RULE IV OF THE RULES OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION RELATING TO VE^lERANS' PREFERANCE The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, The Civil Service Commission of the City of Chula Vista has heretofore considered the amendment of Section 8 of Rule IV of the Rules and Regulations of the Civil Service Commission to extend the Veterans' preference to veterans of the military or naval services of the United States serving during the Viet Nam conflict, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that Section 8 of Rule IV of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations be, and the same is hereby amend=d to read as follows: Section 8--Veterans' Preference: In every original examina- tion, the Civil Service Commission shall, in addition to all other credits, give credit of five per cent (5%) of the maximum rating pre- scribed for such examination to any applicant, male or female, who has been engaged in the military or naval service of the United States, including services in any uniformed auxiliary of, or to any branch of such military or naval service created or authorized as such auxiliary by the Congress of the United States, during World War II or during a war as now defined in Section 205 of the Revenue and Taxation Code of the State of California, or during the period of hostilities in Viet Nam commencing on July 1, 1963, and who has been honorably discharged or retired from such service.
