Urt°ga, 972 A:elrose Avenue, has applied for a driveway variance to install a second driveway approach, 16 feet in width, to facilitate construction of a circular drive on his property. The existing driveway ap~~roach is 19 feet wide. The property frontage is 75 feet. The applicant submits that a circular driveway will eliminate the need to back into Melrose Avenue and will afford on-site parking for several vehicles. Under the provisions of Ordinance 1?_05, a residential lot can have a maximum of 900 of the frontage for. driveway purpose. In this case a total curb opening of 30 feet is permissible under the ordinance. The applicant is asking for a total curb opening of 35 feet. The subject property is sufficiently wide to permit construction of a practical circular driveway. Add?.tionally, the excess total width of driveway openings as proposed will not significantly affect the use of Melrose Avenue. A transparency is available for Council viewing. See EXHIBITS [ ] i`do.
