May 2 3 , 197 2 Item Title: Resolution - Approving Utilitie:; Agreement No. 15179-L with the State c, f_ Cal.ifor7~ia for Installation of Set+~er ~'acili_t:ic: s in Connjunction with Construction of I- 8 05 1'reewav Initiated by ; Director of Public 6vorks/City Engineer Attached is a copy of Resolution [x] Ordinance [ ] Ag . - tment (x ] Plat [x~ Background: In September 1971, it became apparent that a portion of the future Rice Canyo trunk sewer should be installed in conjunction with the construction of I-805 Freeway interchange with "II" Street. The Rice Canyon trunk sewer. will be required to serve a major portion of the IJ1 iZancho del Rey Subdivision, as shown upon the master plan for that development. Those portions of the trunk sewer which gill be under deep fills are most economically installed prior to the placerner~t of the fill . Consequently, the PubJ_ic Works Department has communicated caith the Division of Highways regarding installation of certain segments of the Rice Car..yon trunk sewer concurrent with construction of the I-805 Freeway and the "Ii" Street interchange. The State has subsequently prepared a Utilities Agreement (No. 15179-8) allow tYie construction of the sewer segment on behalf of the City under contract. The agreement specifically provides the following: to State J_. State w~_11 include in its highway contract approximately 519 feet of 8" sewer, 869 feet of 15" sewer, two manholes and 1,388 feet of sewer encase- ment. 2. Cost of the work (estirated at $37,475) is to be borne by the City. 3. City will prepare plans and specifications for inclusion in the State highway contract. 4. City will pay ten percent (100) of the actual cost of the in- stallation f_or construction engineering by the State. 5. Actual costs to the City are to be based upon bid prices and final contract quantities. State will provide billing within sixty (60) days after installation is completed. 6. City will deposit $37,475 with State prior to award of the State highway contract. The 1972-73 Capital Improvement Program, as current>:y proposed, includes funding for this project in the amount of $48,000. Commission-Board Recommendation: Not applicable.
