HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2000-281 RESOLUTION NO. 2000-281 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE EXISTING CONTRACT WITH THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO FOR RECEIPT OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,500 TO SUPPORT THE DESIGNATION OF CHULA VISTA HARBOR AS THE SOUTHERN HOME PORT OF THE TALL SHIP CALIFORNIAN WHEREAS, the City's agreement with the Nautical Heritage Society to designate Chula Vista Harbor as the Southem Home Port of the tall ship Califomian requires that the City make a $30,000 grant in Fiscal Year 2000/2001 to the ship's organization; and WHEREAS, in consideration of the value of the ship as a shared community asset, the County has allocated $6,500 in its Community Enhancement Funds to support this service; and WHEREAS, staff recommends continuing the project and recommends executing an amendment to the agreement with the County of San Diego. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does approve an Amendment to the existing contract with the County of San Diego for receipt of financial assistance in the amount of $6,500 to support the designation of Chula Vista Harbor as the Southern Home Port of the tall ship Californian, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Clerk. BE IT FLIRTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula Vista is hereby authorized and directed to execute said amendment for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
