Ba.ckgr_ound:
On August 3, 1972, the Community Development Representative
of MUD notified this office that i.t had approved the request
of the City of Chula Vista. to utilize the proposed Larkhaven
Park Site as an alternative to the "defunct" Harborside Park
Site in the Parks-in-Cities grant (OSC 456). HUD requested
two (2) immediate tasks to be performed by the City:
1. Execution of a contract evidencing above mentioned
grant. This was done at the Council meeting of
August 8, 1972.
2. Secure two (2) independent appraisals of the property
in or. der to justify the expenditure of the grant
acquisition cost originally allocated for Harborside.
This resolution provides for the employment of the appraisers and
directs staff to bring back a subsequent resolution appropriating
funds for the appraisals. This office has on file a letter from
the appraiser(s) stipulating that the total cost for both appraisals
wi_11 not exceed $2,000.

Re: Appraisal Recreational Park
Walnut Drive, Chula Vista
Dear Mr. Ratelle:
This will confirm our conversation of this date,
that we will do two appraisals on the above referenced
property. The fee for both appraisals shall not
exceed Two Thousand Dollars. The appraisals will be
done by Tod Carter, and F. Donald Merrill.
The valuation conclusions will be separate and
individual, but using the same factual information.
The appraisals are for negotiation and not for con-
demnation.
Yours truly,
t
~. Donald Merrill, M.A.I.
