RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA DESIGNATING CERTAIN HIGHWAYS OR ROADWAYS OR
PORTIONS THEREOF ADJACENT TO THE SAN DIEGO COUNTRY
CLUB FOR A DISTANCE OF NOT MORE THAN ONE-HALF MILE
FOR THE COMBINED USE OF GOLF CARTS AND REGULAR
VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND PRESCRIBING RULES AND REGU-
LATIONS THEREFOR
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the owners of certain motor vehicles i.e. golf
carts as defined in Section 345 of the California Vehicle Code, have
requested that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista designate
certain highways or roadways or portions thereof in the City of Chula
Vista for the combined use of said golf carts and regular vehicular
traffic, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista is
authorized to so designate said highways or roadways or portions
thereof pursuant to the provisions of Section 21115 of the California
Vehicle Code which reads as follows:
X21115. Golf Carts on Local Highways.
If a local authority finds that a highway under its
jurisdiction adjacent to a golf course is designed and
constructed, so a~ to safely permit the use thereof of
regular vehicular traffic and also the driving of golf
carts thereon between the golf course and the place where
such golf carts are parked or stored, the local authority
may by resolution or ordinance designate such highway or
portion thereof for such combined use and prescr~_be rules
and regulations therefor which shall have the force of
law. No such highway shall be so designated for a
distance of more than one-half mile from the golf course,
provided, the finding of the local authority in this
respect shall be conclusive. Upon such designation
becoming effective, it shall be lawful to drive golf
carts upon such highway in accordance with the rules
and regulations prescribed as aforesaid.
The rules and regulations shall not be effective until
appropriate signs giving notice thereof are posted along
the highways affected.

WHEREAS, Section 21716 of the California Vehicle Code limits
such operation to highways having a speed zone of 25 miles per hour or
less, and
WHEREAS, the highways or roadways or portions thereof to be
so designated for combined use of golf carts and regular vehicular
traffic are those highways or roadways or portions thereof within the
City of Chula Vista within one-half mile of the San Diego Country Club
as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference as if set forth in full, and

WHEREAS, all of the highways or roadways or portions
thereof within the area so designated have speed zones of 25 miles
per hour or less except for the following streets and highways
which have speed zones as indicated:
35 MPH 30 MPH
Telegraph Canyon Road Hilltop Drive
"L" Street "J" Street
Third Avenue First Avenue
Fourth Avenue Second Avenue
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Chula Vista that all of those streets located within one-half
mile of the San Diego Country Club within the City of Chula Vista in
a speed zone of 25 miles per hour or less as shown on Exhibit "A"
attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth
in full be, and the same are hereby designated as highways or roadways
or portions thereof whereon combined operation of golf carts and
regular vehicular traffic is authorized, subject to all the rules
and regulations of the Vehicle Code of the State of California and
the Traffic Code of the City of Chula Vista and such other rules
and regulations as may be adopted by the City Council pursuant to
this resolution or as may be adopted from time to time in the future
by the City Council. Provided, however, that the following streets
within the area so designated may not be authorized for said combined
usage except for the purpose of traversing said streets at the inter-
section of designated highways or streets or portions thereof:
Telegraph Canyon Road
"L" Street
Third Avenue
Fourth Avenue
Hilltop Drive
"J" Street
First Avenue
Second Avenue
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said usage shall be authorized
only between the hours of one-half hour before dawn and one-half hour
after dusk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works
be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to prepare signs which
read as follows:
NOTICE GOLF CARTS PERMITTED NEXT ONE-HALF MILE: NOTICE
GOLF CARTS PERMITTED OR NO GOLF CARTS BEYOND THIS POINT
which signs shall be appropriately posted on said highways or roadways
in the area designated for such combined usage.
