The City Council, at its meeting of September 18, by minute action,
authorized the Director of Public Works to bring back an agreement with
Colgan-Smith Architects for the preparation of plans and specifications
for the construction of the animal shelter.
An agreement has been prepared and executed by Colgan-Smith for pro-
fessional services. The agreement covers four basic phases.
Phase I - Schematics and cost estimates.
Phase II - Preliminary plans and specifications.
Phase III - Working drawings and specifications.
Phase IV - Construction services.
This agreement is similar to other agreements which have been entered into
between the City and other architects for past City projects, such as the
police facility and the Civic Center remodeling.
Colgan-Smith Architects agree to provide professional services for the
estimated amount of $6,500. This estimate does not include cost for re-
imbursable expenditures. This figure was arrived at after further
meetings and negotiations with the architect, although his initial esti-
mated cost, as contained in his basic proposal was $5,900.
The first phase is to be completed on or before January 4, 1974. Phase 3
is to be completed on or before April 1, 1974.
