RESOLUTION NO. 4~~~
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
SUPPORT<'_VG THE ISSUANCE, IN 1969, OF A UNITED STATES POSTAGE
STAMP COMMEMORATING THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING
OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the 200th Anniversaty of the founding of the State
of California will be celebrated in 1969; and.
WHEREAS, an event of such importance to the State of California
should be memorialized in the issuance of a commemorative United States
postage stamp; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista is identified with the history
of the State of California and is deeply interested in the efforts of
the Commemorative Stamp and Philatelic Exhibit Committee of San Diego's
200th Anniversary, Inc., in requesting the issuance of a commemorative
United States postage stamp, and
WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista wishes to join in the efforts
of said committee in their presentation to the United States Postmaster
General for the issuance of such a commemorative stamp.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Chula Vista that said city strongly supports the .concept of the
issuance, in 1969, of a United States postage stamp commemorating the
200th Anniversary of the founding of the State of California, and urges
favorable response to the request for the issuance of such a stamp.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of
Chula Vista be, and he is hereby directed to forward a certified copy
of this resolution to the City Clerk of the City of San Diego so that
it may be included in the presentation to be made to the United States
Postmaster General in December of 1967.
