HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1967-4574RESOLUTION N0. 4574 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 8TH THROUGH 14TH, 1967 AS "SALUTE TO CITY-COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK" The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, RONALD REAGAN, Governor of the State of California has urged all City and County governments to participate in the state- wide program entitled "SALUTE TO CITY-COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK", and WHEREAS, said program is intended to better acquaint the citizens of the community with the functions of their local government and to promote an increasing vitality in City and County governments, and WHEREAS, various communities are holding open houses, pub- licizing governmental operations through the distribution of brochures explaining the workings and functions of various departments in local government, conducting student government days and community workshops, and WHEREAS, the City of Chula Vista has agreed to participate in the Governor's program, designed to provide greater recognition of the functions of local government. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that the week of October 8th through 14th, 1967, be, and the same is hereby proclaimed to be "SALUTE TO CITY-COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK" and that the month of October be dedicated to the following activities in observance of said program: 1. A series of coffee hours on certain evenings during the month of October, to provide an opportunity for citizens to learn details about the City's services. 2. Student Government Day which will establish student leader- ship in Council positions, the Administrative Officer and Department Head positions. This will also include a detailed program by the Police Department, affording students the opportunity to participate in police activities. 3. Distribution of information sheets and Council agendas etc. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Junior Chamber of Commerce of the City of Chula Vista be commended for their assistance and cooperation in support of the "SALUTE TO CITY-COUNTY GOVERNMENT". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista be, and he is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Governor Ronald Reagan's office, Sacramento, California, commending him for instituting such a program and encouraging its annual observation.
