HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2011-252RESOLUTION NO. 2011-252 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING $119,797 FROM THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY AND APPROPRIATING $93,797 TO THE POLICE GRANT FUND FOR THE SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT MINI-GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety has awazded $119,797 to the Police Department for the Sobriety Checkpoint Mini-Grant Program; and WHEREAS, the goal of the Sobriety Checkpoint Mini-Grant Program is to reduce the number of victims killed and injured in alcohol-involved crashes; and WHEREAS, the Police Department has been approved to conduct 18 sobriety checkpoints during the period of November 29, 2011 to September 4, 2012; and WHEREAS, each sobriety checkpoint will be compensated on an overtime basis only; and WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety has approved $2,797 to purchase checkpoint supplies; and WHEREAS, the grant funds from the California Office of Traffic Safety will offset the costs of conducting the sobriety checkpoints. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept $119,797 from the California Office of Traffic Safety and appropriate $91,000 to the personnel category and $2,797 to the supplies and services category of the Fiscal Year 2011 /2012 Police Grant Fund for the Sobriety Checkpoint Mini-Grant Program.
