CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEE'T`ING OF: December 12, 1972
ITEM TITLE: Resolution Establishing Policy for Licensing of Temporary
Master Antenna Television Systems in the City of Chula Vista
IPdITIATED BY: City Attorney
uarxrunrnvn~
At the Council meeting of December 5, 1972, questions were raised
as to the terminology contained in the policy for licensing master
antenna systems in new subdivisions not served by the cable television
franchisee of the City of Chula Vista. There were objections to the
use of the phrase "temporary CATV system". In order to clarify the
purpose of the policy, references to a CATV system have been eliminated
and the proposed system is designated as a temporary master antenna
system which must be constructed so as to be compatible with the CATV
system.
Essentially, the policy provides a means to issue what could be deemed
an encroachment permit for a limited number of years to those developers
relying upon a master antenna system in lieu of services by the franchised
cable TV system in the City. It should be understood that the system
which would be licensed pursuant to the policy would, in terms of techno-
logical qualifications within the development itself, be equal to and
compatible with the existing or proposed CATV system franchised by the
City of Chula Vista.
