CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: December 12, 1972
ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Accepting Easement for Fire Hydrant from Rohr
Industries
IPNITIATED BY:
Rnrurunrmm
Director of Public Works/City Engineer
A fire hydrant along the west side of West Bay Boulevard between "G"
Street and "H" Street was recently struck by an automobile. The
resultant escape of water brought to light a potential hazard of flooding
an adjacent Rohr building.
In order to minimize the possibility of a future knock-down, Rohr Corp.
has expressed its desire to relocate the hydrant to a point further
removed from the paved roadway. They have also expressed their willingnes
to pay the expense of relocation.
The street right of way width is not sufficient to allow relocation far
enough from the pavement to preclude another similar accident. Therefore,
Rohr Corporation has executed an easement for fire hydrant purposes which
will allow relocation of the hydrant onto Rohr property and thereby
provide a relatively safe distance from the pavement.
The Fire Department and California American Water Company have been
consulted during the formative process in this matter. Neither has
objection to the Rohr proposal.
