HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1972/11/14 Item 07AGENDA ITEM NO 7 November 14, 1972 CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: November 14, 1972 ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Accepting Bid and Awarding Contract for the Preparation of Landscaped Areas Adjacent to Tennis Courts at Southwestern College INITIATED BY: Rarxc;urn~vn_ Director of Public Works/City Engineer"' ~..--- The City Council, by Resolution 6567 on August 22, 1972, entered into an agreement for the installation and maintenance of landscaping the tennis facility area at Southwestern College. The Director of Parks and Recreation subsequently has solicited informal bids for the preparation of the landscaped areas. Informal bids were received from four (4) landscape contractors. One of the contractors, Yoshi's Nursery, which submitted a bid, is the only known landscape contractor who has his business within the City of Chula Vista and who possesses a valid C-27 license issued by the State of California. The lowest responsible bid was submitted by Mr. Z Landscape in the amount of $4970. The list of bidders with their accompanying bid amounts are as follows: 1. Mr. Z Landscape $4970.00 2. T. B. Penick & Sons $5438.66 3. Mission Valley Landscape Co. $5555.00 4. Yoshi's Nursery $9971.00 This contract includes the installation of an automatic irrigation system, telephone pole border around volleyball courts, soil preparation of land- scaped areas and the planting of 3000 square feet of bluegrass sod. Other work which must be accomplished to complete the project will be performed by City forces which includes furnishing all other materials. The balance of funds in the amount of $4247.94 will be needed to cover the costs of plants and materials to be installed by City forces.
