HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1971-6139~, RESOLUTION NO. 6139 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN TERRITORY KNOWN AS TEiE SWEETWATER VALLEY ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF CHIJLA VISTA The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: and 20th WHEREAS, on the 15th/day of July, 1971, a petition proposing that the following described new territory, to wit: That that certain territory designated as the Sweetwater Valley Annexation described as follows: The proposed annexation area consists of those portions of Rancho de la Nacion, Map No. 166, as filed in the office of the County Recorder, County of San Diego, May 11, 1869 and a portion of Fractional Sections 20, 21 and 28, Town- ship 17 South, Range 1 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, all in the County of San Diego, California, described as follows: a. That area bounded on the North by the northerly right of way line of the South Bay Freeway and the northerly line of Quarter Section 3, Rancho de la Nacion; b. Bounded on the Northeast by the boundaries of the Sweetwater Reservoir lands of the California-American Water Company; c. Including that portion of Section 20, Township 17 South, Range 1 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian which lies southerly of the northerly right of way line of San Miguel Road, also the South Half of the Northwest Quarter and the North Half of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 21; d. Bounded on the Southeast by the easterly boundary of Rancho de la Nacion; e. Bounded on the South by the existing boundaries of the City of Chula Vista; f. And bounded on the West by the existing boundaries of the City of Chula Vista and the City of National City. be annexed to the City of Chula Vista, was duly received by the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista on behalf of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, and WHEREAS, said petition is signed by not less than one-fourth of the qualified electors residing within said described territory as shown by the County Registration of Voters, and, WHEREAS, said petition contains said description of the said new territory proposed to be annexed to said City of Chula Vista, and WHEREAS, said petition asks that said described new territory be annexed to said City of Chula Vista. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista to call a special election for the purpose of submitting to the electors residing within the following described territory, to wit: That that certain territory designated as the Sweetwater Valley Annexation described as follows: The proposed annexation area consists of those portions of Rancho de la Nacion, Map No. 166, as filed in the office of the County Recorder, County of San Diego, May 11, 1869 and a portion of Fractional Sections 20, 21 and 28, Town- ship 17 South, Range 1 West, San Bernardino Base and Meridian, all in the County of San Diego, California, described as follows: a. And bounded on the West by the existing boundaries of the City of Chula Vista and the City of National City. and shown on the map attached hereto and designated as Exhibit "A", and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full; the question whether or not said described territory should be annexed to said City of Chula Vista. Said territory shall be designated and referred to upon election ballots as the Sweetwater Valley Annexation. Any person owning real property within the said described terri- tory may appear before the City Council of the City of Chula Vista on the 10th day of August, 1971, at the Council Chambers of City Hall, 276 Fourth Avenue, Chula Vista, California, at the hour of 7:00 p.m., concerning written protest against annexation filed pursuant to Government Code Section 35120.
