RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 5488 AUTHORIZING THE
CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH A MASTER LIST OF PREVAILING
WAGE SCALES FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH SECTION 1773 OF THE LABOR CODE OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of
California directs that the local agency awarding any contract for
public works ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages
in the locality in which the work is to be performed, and
WHEREAS, said code section authorizes the public body to
publish said schedule of prevailing rates and to refer to copies
thereof, on file in the office of the City Clerk and available to
any interested party upon request, in lieu of specifying the said
prevailing rates in the call for bids on public works contracts, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has
heretofore by Resolution No. 5488, adopted on December 23, 1969,
authorized the publication of a master list of prevailing wage
scales, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has now prepared a
schedule of new prevailing wage scales for building and construction
trades, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein
by reference as if set forth in full.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Chula Vista that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista
be, and she is hereby directed to publish said schedule of prevailing
rates of per diem wages in a newspaper of general circulation on or
after March 1, 1972 and to stipulate in said publication that said
schedule of prevailing rates will be kept on file in the office of
the City Clerk and will be available to any contractor requesting
same.

FOR BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES
In accordance with the Provisions of Sections 1770 and 1781 of
the Labor Code, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has
ascertained that the general prevailing rate of wages applicable
to contracts for public work by the City of Chula Vista is as
follows:

*THE INCREASES OUTLINED ABOVE SHALL BE ALLOCATED TO WAGES AND/OR
EXISTING FRINGE BENEFIT PROGRAMS AT THE OPTION OF THE UNION.
All Operators and Oilers on equipment with booms of eighty
(80) to one hundred (100) feet, including jib and pile driving
rigs with hammer leads of eighty (80) to one hundred (100)
feet, shall receive fifteen cents (15¢) per hour pay in addition
to the regular rate of pay. Thereafter, they shall receive
an additional twenty cents (20~) per hour pay additional to the
regular rate of pay for each additional twenty (20) feet of
boom or portion thereof, including jib, up to two hundred (200)
feet; thereafter, the Operator shall receive one dollar and
fifty cents ($1.50) per hour in addition to his regular rate
of pay, which shall include the above-mentioned long boom rate;
and the Oiler shall remain at the two hundred (200) foot rate.
The rate of pay established by this paragraph shall become the
base rate for the entire shift.
Operators on Tandem-type .equipment, excluding compaction units,
shall receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour in addition
to the regular rate and this shall become the base rate for the
entire shift.

Operators on Tower Crane equipment shall receive an additional
forty-five cents (45¢) per hour in addition to the regular rate
and this shall become the base rate for the entire shift (long boom
pay does not apply).
Operators on hoists with three (3) drums shall receive fifteen cents
(15¢) per hour additional pay to the regular rate of pay. For each
additional drum, he shall receive an additional fifteen cents (15¢)
per hour. The additional pay shall be added to the regular rate
and become the base rate for the entire shift.
