HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1972-6342RESOLUTION NO. 6342 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ABANDONING CERTAIN CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND SUBSTITUTING THEREFOR A NEW CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROVIDNG FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE FIFTH AVENUE, "C" STREET RELIEF SEWER IN PLACE OF CASTLE PARK CITY-COUNTY DRAINAGE PROJECT The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council, at its regular meeting of February 1, 1972, approved the concept of substituting the in- stallation of a relief sewer in Fifth Avenue and "C" Street to effectuate the abandonment of the "C" Street pump station in place of participation in the defunct Castle Park City-County drainage program in the southwest portion of the City, and WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works, at the stated meeting, indicated estimated savings to the City over a 30-year period of approximately $100,000 by the elimination of the "C" Street pump station and this figure would be increased by the amount collected through connection fees assessed against the unimproved property within the service area, and WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the pump station replace- ment and the attendant connection fees to the Spring Valley Sanitation District is $90,000 and if the relief sewer is not constructed, the 24 year old pump station would have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $30,000, and WHEREAS, downstream sewers in "G" Street and Broadway would have to be enlarged at a cost of approximately $62,000 and the maintenance of a pump station for a 30-year period is estimated to be $105,000, and WHEREAS, the $197,000 total of these items would be elimi- nated by the proposed project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby abandon priority project 1, Code Number PW-1-71, Castle Park City-County Drainage Project for $95,000 and the establishment of Fifth Avenue, "C" Street Relief Sewer and abandonment of the "C" Street pump station, funded in the amount of $95,000. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids on said project. Presented by Approved as to form by ,~ ~ ~~ ~~~~ Lane F.
