HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1972-6492RESOLUTION N0. 6492 1972-73 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROVING THAT CERTAIN MEMORANDUM OF UNDE RSTANDING CONCERNING WAGES AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND THE CHULA VISTA POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION FOR FISCAL YEAR The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the Management Negotiation Team representing the City Manager of the City of Chula Vista, acting for and on behalf of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, have heretofore met and conferred with the Chula Vista Police Relief Association, an organization representing sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3500 et seq, of the Government Code of the State of California, and WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding jointly prepared by said parties as a result of meeting and conferring has been pre- sented to the City Council and is contained in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby approve and accept said Memorandum of Understanding as contained in Exhibit "A" for fiscal year 1972-73. DATED City Clerk MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING CONCERNING WAGES AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND THE CHULA VISTA POLICE. RELIEF ASSOCIA- TION FOR FISCAL YEAR 1972-73 WHEREAS, the representatives of the City Manager of the City of Chula Vista, acting for and on behalf of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, have heretofore met and conferred with the Chula Vista Police Relief Associa- tion, an organization representing sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3500 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California. WHEREAS, as a result of meeting and conferring in good faith with said group, agreement has been reached on the following terms and conditions of employment as applied to those sworn employees who are members of and represented by the Chula Vista Police Relief Association, and said representatives of the City Manager and of the Chula Vista Police Relief Association do now jointly prepare a written Memorandum of Understanding concerning said agreed terms and conditions of employment for presentation to the City Council of the City of Chula Vista for determination, to-wit: 1. City hereby agrees to a five percent (5 %) salary increase for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. 2. City hereby agrees to the following benefit proposal and changes in the Civil Service Rules as required. Adoption of a Uniform Allowance plan for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. Said plan to include the following: a. An initial allowance of three hundred dollars ($300) to be provided to each new Patrolman for purchase of regula- tion police uniforms and equipment. It is stipulated that said uniforms and equipment will be returned to the City if the Patrolman does not successfully complete the required probationary period. b. An annual allowance of one hundred dollars ($100) for uniform and equipment maintenance. Said annual allowance to be paid on a fiscal year basis with. no carry over from year to year. 3. It is further understood and agreed that any other benefits and working conditions and the terms and conditions thereof presently in effect shall remain unchanged (except for amendments to the Civil Service Rules which liberalize employee benefits) unless and until said terms and conditions shall be modified as a result of meeting and conferring in good faith between the City and the Chula Vista Police Relief Association pursuant to the provisions of Section 3500 of the Government Code of the State of California, provided, further, however, that all terms and conditions agreed upon by this Memorandum of Understanding shall remain in full force and effect for the entire fiscal vear 1972-73. 4. It is further understood and agreed that if and in the event that the Legislature of the State of California adopts legislation which becomes law at any time during the fiscal year 1972-73 related to and affecting any of the terms and conditions of employment agreed to in this Memorandum of Understanding, that this Memorandum shall be void and of no further force and effect and all terms and conditions herein shall be subject to renegotiation. ohn R.
