HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1973-6847 RESOLUTIOI`1 N0. 6847 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA APPROVING THAT CERTAIN MEMORANDUM OF UNDER- STANDII~dG CONCERNING WAGES AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYA7ENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND THE CHULA VISTA POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION FOR FISCAL YEARS 1973-75 The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the Management Negotiation Team representing the City PZanager of the City of Chula Vista, acting for and on behalf of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, have heretofore met and conferred with the Chula Vista Police Relief Association, an organi- zation representing sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3500 et seq, of tl~e Government Code of the State of California, and WHEREAS, the Memorandum of Understanding jointly prepared by said parties as a result of meeting and conferring has been pre- sented to the City Council and is contained in Exhibit "A", attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby approve and accept said Memorandum of Understanding as contained in Exhibit "A" for fiscal years 1973-75. DATED City C er ~' °C*~ r r, ' ~~. i • ~ ~b.h IYS ~'.. ~A `~ MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING CONCERNING WAGES AND OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT BET WEEN THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND THE CHULA VISTA POLICE RELIEF ASSOCIATION FOR A TWO YEAR PERIOD OF TIME (JULY 1, 1973 - JUNE 30, 1975) WHEREAS, the representatives of the City Manager of the City of Chula Vista, acting for and on behalf of the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, have heretofore met and conferred with the Chula Vista Police Relief Association, an organization representing sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant, in accordance with the provisions of Section 3500 et seq. of the Government Code of the State of California. WHEREAS, as a result of meeting and conferring in good faith with said group, agreement has been reached on the following terms and conditions of employment as applied to those sworn employees who are members of and represented by the Chula Vista Police Relief Association, and said representatives of tI'ie City Manager and of the Chula Vista Police Relief Association do now jointly pre;~are a written Memorandum of Understanding concerning said agreed terms and conditions of employment for presentation to the City Council of the City of Chula Vista for determination, to-wit: Fiscal 1973-74 (July 1, 1973 - June 30, 1974) 1. City hereby agrees to a two and one-half per cent (2 1/2~) salary increase for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. This salary increase to become effective July 1, 1973. 2. City hereby agrees to a two and one-half per cent (2 1/20) salary increase for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. This salary increase to become effective January 1, 1974. 3. Two salary steps shall be added to the police officer salary range. The salary range will be A - 100, A - 5%, A,B,C,D.E. The salary range shall be expanded as follows: EFFECTIVE DATE 1 2 A B C D E July 1, 1973 805 845 887 931 978 1027 1078 January 1, 1974 825 866 909 954 1002 1052 1105 July 1, 1974 845 887 931 978 1027 1078 1132 January 1, 1975 866 909 954 1002 1052 1105 1160 Police Officers will be eligible for advancement within the established salary range as follows: Upon recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Director of Personnel and with the approval of the City Manager, to advance to Step 2 after six months at Step 1, to advance to Step A after six months at Step 2, to Step B after six months at Step A, to Step C after six months at Step B, to Step D after twelve months at Step C, and to Step E after twelve months at Step D. 4. The following changes shall be incorporated in the employees' medical and insurance coverage. These changes shall be paid for by the City of Chula Vista. a. Life insurance coverage shall be increased to $3,000. b. Basic hospital room and board coverage shall be increased to $45 per day. c. Change from a $100 deductible per each cause to $100 for all causes, the deductible to be paid once each calendar year. d. Major medical maximum coverage shall be increased to $50,000. 5. The following changes shall be incorporated in the dependents' medical insurance. Total cost of dependents' medical insurance shall be paid by the City of Chula Vista. a. Basic hospital room and board coverage shall be increased to $45 per day. b. Change from a $100 deductible per each cause to $100 for all causes, the deductible to paid once each calendar year. c. Major medical maximum coverage shall be increased to $50,000. Fiscal 1974-75 (July 1, 1974 - June 30, 1975) 1. City hereby agrees to a two and one-half per cent (2 1/20) salary increase for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. This salary increase to become effective July 1, 1974. 2. City hereby agrees to a two and one-half per cent (2 1/20) salary increase for sworn members of the Chula Vista Police Department from Patrolman up through the rank of Police Lieutenant. This salary increase to become effective January 1, 1975 -3- 3. City will pay entire cost of PORAC Long Term Disability Insurance coverage. 4. The City of Chula Vista to provide sick leave reimbursement to all sworn members of the Police Department up through the rank of Police Lieutenant in the following manner: Twenty-five per cent (250) for all unused sick leave hours at time of honorable separation after 10 years service. Accumulation of sick leave hours subject to payment will commence January 1, 1974.
