HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1973-6879f RESOLUTION NO. 6879 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 6355 AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH A MASTER LIST OF PREVAILING WAGE SCALES FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONTRACTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1773 OF THE LABOR CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California directs that the local agency awarding any contract for public works ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the work is to be performed, and WHEREAS, said code section authorizes the public body to publish said schedule of prevailing rates and to refer to copies thereof, on file in the office of the City Clerk and available to any interested party upon request, in lieu of specifying the said prevailing rates in the call for bids on public works contracts, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista has heretofore by Resolution No. 6355, adopted on February 22, 1972, authorized the publication of a master list of prevailing wage scales, and WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has now prepared a schedule of new prevailing wage scales for building and construction trades, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference as if set forth in full. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista be, and she is hereby directed to publish said schedule of prevailing rates of per diem wages in a newspaper of general circulation on or after July 1, 1973 and to stipulate in said publication that said schedule of prevailing rates will be kept on file in the office of the City Clerk and will be available to any contractor requesting same. All Operators and Oilers on equipment with booms of eighty (80) to one hundred (100) feet, including jib and pile driving rigs with hammer leads of eighty (80) to one hundred (100) feet, shall receive fifteen cents (15¢) per hour pay in addition to the regular rate of pay. Thereafter, they shall receive an additional twenty cents (20~) per hour pay additional to the regular rate of pay for each additional twenty (20) feet of boom or portion thereof, including jib, up to two hundred (200) feet; thereafter, the Operator shall receive one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per hour in addition to his regular rate of pay, 4ahich shall include the above-mentioned long boom rate; and the Oiler shall remain at the two hundred (200) foot rate. The rate of pay established by this paragraph shall become the base rate for the entire shift. Operators on Tandem-type equipment, excluding compaction units, shall receive an additional one dollar ($1.00) per hour in addition to the regular rate and this shall become the base rate for the entire shift.
