The $18,116 grant is from the United States Civil Service Commission and is to hire a consultant to perform a detailed analysis of key bench mark positions within the classification structure of the City of Chula Vista. The information derived from the job analysis will be used where appropriate, as a basis for realigning tasks and developing new career ladders within the series represented by the bench mark classifi- cations. Considerable emphasis will be placed upon determining realistic basic qualifications with an eye towards eliminating any artificial barriers to employment. Proper and adequate levels of skills that are required to successfully perform the duties of the classifica- tion will be identified. Once these necessary skills are identified, they will be the basis for determining valid selection criteria and methods. The consultant will review similar classifications in the cooperating Cities of Coronado, E1 Cajon, La Mesa, National City and Imperial Beach to determine the feasibility of implementing the results of the study in those Cities.
