ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Authorizing Purchase of Eight (8) Police Vehicles

Ine current budget provides for the purchase of eight (8) police patrol vehicles.
The City of Chula Vista is able to secure said vehicles via a cooperative purchasing
arrangement with the County of Los Angeles on their bid number P1965. Recent City
of San Diego and County of San Diego police vehicle prices were reviewed and the
County of Los Angeles prices are best.
The vehicles proposed for purchase are the American Motors Matador Police Specials.
The specifications are acceptable to the Chief of Police and Director of Public
Works. The low bidder under the County of Los Angeles Bid is Bonanza American Inc.,
North Hollywood, California.

The total cost to acquire the eight (8) vehicles is $27,906.65. These vehicles do
not have an option regarding LPG. bJe will have to acquire an LPG system, if desired,
at a cost of $500.00 per unit. The total cost of the eight (8) vehicles with the LPG
system is $31,906.65. It is proposed that the City acquire the eight vehicles and
install the LPG system on the vehicles.

Financial Statement:
The current bu get in account 01-2140-5565 has a balance of $26,308.00. Funds are
available for transfer from account 01-2140-5269 to cover the cost of the eight
vehicles with or without the LPG system.

Director o ub is Works and Purchasing Agent recommend the purchase of the eight
police vehicles and installation of the LPG system.
City Manager Recommendation:
Concur. It is noted that we are investigating odor complaints related to LPG on
the Plymouth patrol vehicles. No odor complaints have been received on the
American Motors patrol vehicles using LPG.

been appropriated for the purpose of said contract, that
sufficient monies to meet the obligations of the contract
are actually in the Treasury, or are anticipated to come
into the Treasury to the credit of the appropriation from
which the same are to be drawn, and that said monies now
