[ 6 ) CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: February 6 , 1973 ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Approving Utility Agreement Between the City of Chula Vista and State of California Regarding Modification of Sewer Facilities INITIATED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer BACKGROUND The construction of the Route 54 Freeway between I-5 and I-805 Freeways will result in the disruption of sewer service to certain areas lying within and adjacent to the freeway right of way. The purpose of this agreement is to insure the same level of sewer servicE to those areas presently served by the City of Chula Vista, and which wil: remain intact after the construction of the freeway. Sewer facilities will be abandoned in those areas which lie within the freeway right of wad One area of particular concern is the Sweetwater Valley Industrial Park which lies east of Fourth Avenue and adjacent to Trousdale Drive. 37.18 acres of the industrial park lie within the freeway right of way while 26.04 acres beyond the freeway right of way will still require sewer service. The total industrial park is presently served by sewers and a sewage pump station. Under the terms of the agreement a portion of the sewer and the sewage pump station will be abandoned. The 26.04 remaining acres will be served by a gravity system through a direct gravity con- nection with the Spring Valley Trunk Sewer. This will eliminate an annua: maintenance and operation cost for the existing sewage pump station of about $3,000. In accordance with the agreement, the State modifying sewer facilities and will pay the acre for connecting to the sewer facilities tation District.
