RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF
COMMENCE JOB ANALYSIS AND RESTRUCTURING
BY A FEDERAL GRANT UNDER THE AUSPICES O
GOVERNMENTAL PERSONNEL ACT OF 1970
PERSONNEL TO
PROJECT FUNDED
F THE INTER-
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, in accordance with Council policy supporting efforts
to insure open consideration of all qualified applicants for initial
appointment and advancement, the City Personnel Department has applied for
and been selected to receive a federal grant under the provisions of the
Intergovernmental Personnel Act of 1970. The $18,116 grant is from the
United States Civil Service Commission and is to hire a consultant to
perform a detailed analysis of key bench mark positions within the
classification structure of the City of Chula Vista. The consultant
will review similar classifications in the cooperating Cities of Coronado,
E1 Cajon, La Mesa, National City and Imperial Beach to determine the
feasibility of implementing the results of the study in those Cities, and
WHEREAS, on March 27, 1973, the City Council resolved to accept
the grant; and, the Selection Consulting Center of the California State
Person nel Board has been selected as the consultant body to conduct the
project; and, the agreement between the Selection Consulting'Center and
the City of Chula Vista relates only to those services that were approved
under the auspices of the Intergovernmental Personnel Act; and, approval
by resolution to enter into an agreement with this division of the State
Personnel Board is recommended, and
WHEREAS, in order that services may be initiated ~,mmediately, it
is also necessary to designate an appropriate staff member as authorized
to enter into and sign an agreement with the State of California, California
State Personnel Board, Selection Consulting Center; and, appropriately, this
responsibility has been incumbent to the position of the Director of Personnel,
and it is recommended that the Council so order.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Chula Vista that the Director of Personnel be, and is hereby authorized
to commence said job analysis and restructuring project, and, further,
that he be designated as the authorized agent of the City of Chula Vista
to enter into and sign an agreement with the State of California, California
State Personnel Board, Selection Consulting Center.
