ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Accepting Bids and Awarding Contract for the
Construction of the Sewer in Bay Boulevard
from "F" to "G" Streets

The City Council, by Resolution No. 7433, approved an agreement between
the City of Chula Vista, Rohr Industries, Inc., City Lumber, Inc.,
Harding C. Campbell, Harlen R. Case and Orleye Hitchcock for partici-
pation in sewer installation, Bay Boulevard from "F" to "G" Streets.
On September 26, 1974 at 11:00 A.M., the Director of Public Works
received formal bids in the Council Chambers for the construction of
sewer in Bay Boulevard from "F" to "G" Streets. Seven contractors
submitted bids and a list of the contractors and their bid amounts
are as follows:

$20,878 from Cash Bond Deposit to C.I.P. Account No. SI-2-74
and authorize the expenditure of $20,878.

y Proposal I uses 8" V.C.P. sewer line, Proposal II uses 8" P.V.C. sewer
line and Proposal III uses 8" A.B.S. sewer line. The sewer line for
Proposals II and III are plastic type materials.
The City of Chula Vista is not contributing any funds for the construc-
tion of the sewer. The City, by its agreement with Rohr Industries,
Inc. and the otY~er property owners has agreed to prepare the contract
documents, advertise for bids, award the contract and administer the
contract to accomplish the work.
The lowest responsible bid of $18,980 by Metro-Young is 51% below the
engineer's estimate. The agreement which was approved by the City
~ Council requires that Rohr Industries and the participating property
owners deposit funds amounting to 100% of the lowest responsible bid
plus 10% for contingencies. Rohr Industries and three property owners
have deposited with the City Finance Officer the required funds in
accordance with the agreement as follows:

Harlen R. Case - 1,336.19 (Misc. Receipt #6442)
Walter F. Hodge - 2,223.51 (Engineering Receipt #3947)
Rohr Industries - 15,861.23 (Engineering Receipt #3986)
