RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA REAFFIRT'IING THE FINDINGS P'IADE PURSUANT TO
RESOLUTION NO. 6333 FINDING THAT CERTAIN PARK DEVELOP-
MENT WORY. AT SEVERAL PARI{S IN THE CITY OF CiiULA VISTA
BE, AND THE SAP!IE IS HEREBY EXCEPTED FROP!I THE REQUIRE-
MENTS OF SECTION 1109 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA AND THAT COR4PETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE
ACQUISITION OF P'iATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES
FOR THE COP'IPLETION OF SUCH PROJECTS IS IMPRACTICAL
AND THAT SAID WORK MAY BE PERFORD4ED T~40RE ECONOMICALLY
BY CITY WORK FORCES
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the City Manager has heretofore in accordance with
the facts set forth in Resolution No. 6333, adopted by the City Council
of the City of Chula Vista on the first day of February, 1972, set forth
in detail those facts which indicate that in certain park development
in the several parks of the City of Chula Vista, that said work would
be performed more economically by City work forces and did therein
recommend to the City Council in accordance with Section 1109 of the
City Charter, that the competitive bidding requirements of said Charter
provision should be waived, and that said work be performed by the City
with its own employees, and
WHEREAS, the same situation now prevails in the fulfillment
of the 1972-73 Capital Improvement Program, which program includes
park development in the amount of $100,000.00 encompassing the Phase II
of Hilltop-Telegraph Canyon Park for $40,000.00, Norman Park for $33,000.00,
and Halecrest Park for $27,000.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Chula Vista that based upon the fact set forth hereinabove and the
recommendation of the City Manager of the City of Chula Vista that the
requirements in Section 1109 of the City Charter be, and the same are
hereby waived and those projects set forth in the 1972-73 Capital Im-
provement Program under Item PR-2-72 as indicated hereinabove, be accom-
plished by the appropriate City forces and that competitive bidding
requirements be waived for the acquisition of necessary materials and
equipment which may be purchased in the open market.
